Transform Your Garage or Basement Into an Indoor Court: Step-by-Step Guide

Are you looking for a better way to stay active and improve your sports skills all year long?

Converting your garage or basement into an indoor multi-sport game court provides immense value for your family by offering a versatile space to be active year-round. That way, your family can enjoy playing sports even when the temperatures outside are sub-zero and there’s snow on the ground.

C&C Courts has over thirty years of experience building indoor athletic courts throughout Minnesota. We can take a basic basement or garage and turn it into a fantastic place to play sports and stay social with friends and family

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you prepare for and design your dream indoor court with help from C&C Courts!

Step 1: Choose Your Space

If you have a garage, empty pole barn, or basement, you can easily turn those into an indoor game court. These areas offer more room to move and space to play many different sports.

You will need to make sure your space is the right size for your desired game court. For example, if your space isn’t quite as big as a basketball court, you can always opt for a half-court design. If your space is big enough for a volleyball court, you can likely fit several other sports in the same space with a multi-use net system, such as pickleball

Once you choose your space, make sure it is cleaned out of anything stored in the area. It must be clear of boxes and other items so the construction crew can work.

Step 2: Design Your Court

Designing your indoor court has never been easier, thanks to C&C Courts’ Design a Court feature. You can choose from different dimensions, court styles, and colors, and see a 3D rendering of your potential court. We have several guides available for using our Design a Court feature, such as designing a basketball court

Some basic steps using this feature include:

  • Selecting “Indoor” for the environment

  • Selecting the Size and Type of court, such as a half-court, full-court, etc

  • Customize the design using the different color floorings

  • Optional: Upload a logo to include on the court design

Step 3: Consult with C&C Courts

After you design your court to your liking, you can save it on our website. Then, you can share your design with C&C Courts, and we’ll discuss your goals and desires for your court. Our team members will get to know you and help you perfect the design of your court. We’ll also discuss budget, timing, and construction.

Step 4: Professional Installation

Now's the time to sit back and relax. Our qualified professionals will handle the actual court construction, and a dedicated project manager will handle the details and keep you regularly informed about the installation.

Step 5: Play Ball!

After your new indoor multi-sport athletic court is installed, it’s time to enjoy it! Gear up and have a great time playing with friends and family, get some exercise, and improve your skills. Even the Taylor Family, who commissioned a backyard basketball court, describes how much fun they have with their new court
